An Info Session for Psychiatric Survivors/Consumers: Come learn about the United Nations Disabilities Treaty

* Their history and role in protecting your rights
*Discover how the disabilities treaty affects you
* The impact this treaty has on changing how we understand the dignities of people with psychiatric disabilities
*Find out how this treaty is a positive change and very different from previous UN documents:
* How disabled communities such as mental health consumers and survivors have worked closely to determine their needs in this treaty
*How the treaty understands legal capacity – supported decision making (how all disabled people have the ability to make choices for ourselves using new strategies)
Let’s think about how international legal instruments on disability can be useful for us here in Canada and in our everyday lives…
